- Lot Description
A striking modernist oil on canvas by Fred Belli, depicting a quiet urban streetscape with simplified architectural forms, darkened windows, and a muted palette of ochre, charcoal, cream, brick red, and gray. The composition presents a row of city buildings in a bold geometric arrangement, with heavily textured paint, expressive surface wear, and a subdued industrial atmosphere. Signed at the lower right, the work is presented in a simple wood frame and shows age-related wear including craquelure, scattered paint loss, abrasions, and surface texture throughout. The verso shows an older canvas back with stretcher, hanging wire, and wear to the frame. A compelling decorative modernist cityscape with strong visual presence, suitable for collectors of urban, architectural, and mid-century-style paintings.
