A charming and complete set of four early 19th-century hand-colored engravings titled A Trip to Brighton, dated 1824, each presented in matching period-style frames. These lively panoramic scenes humorously depict the perils and spectacles of stagecoach travel in Regency England, filled with detailed vignettes of passengers, horses, mishaps, and roadside activity. Each plate bears captions, Latin mottos, and literary references (including Shakespeare), along with engraver credits such as “Engraved by Charles…” (likely Charles Williams or a contemporary hand), consistent with satirical prints of the period. The elongated compositions and delicate hand-coloring enhance their narrative quality, making them both decorative and historically engaging. Overall toning, light foxing, and age-related wear are present, with visible backing and original framing elements retained on verso, all consistent with age.
