- Lot Description
Finely cast bronze sculpture titled Right Racehorse by listed French animalier sculptor Jules Moigniez (1835-1894), depicting a standing thoroughbred fitted with saddle and bridle, captured with exceptional anatomical detail and naturalistic modeling. The horse is shown alert and poised, with carefully rendered musculature, flowing mane and tail, and subtle textural ground beneath its hooves. The bronze bears the incised signature "J. Moigniez" on the integral base and is mounted on an oval green marble plinth with a brass title plaque reading "Right Racehorse - Jules Moigniez." The sculpture features a rich brown patina with darker accents to the mane, tail, and tack, enhancing depth and contrast. A striking example of 19th century French animalier art, presented on a substantial marble base and well suited for display Approx. dimensions (in): 12.5 x 15.25 x 6.75.
