- Lot Description
A decorative carved wood religious figure depicting a bearded male saint in elaborate robes, holding a small vessel aloft in one hand and an open book in the other, raised on an ornate gilt base with a blue-and-white Bavarian-style shield. The figure retains old polychrome and gilt painted decoration in red, blue, cream, and gold tones, with expressive facial carving and deeply modeled drapery. The underside bears a paper label reading “Karl Storr München am Dom.” Condition is distressed, with extensive peeling, flaking, paint loss, surface wear, age cracks, chips, and scattered losses throughout, as shown. A striking devotional or ecclesiastical-style decorative piece with strong Old World character. Approx. dimensions (in): 18.5 x 6 x 3.75.
