A striking and substantial Italian terracotta wall plaque attributed to Manifattura di Signa, featuring a finely modeled high-relief scene of a mounted classical figure, likely inspired by Renaissance or medieval iconography. The composition depicts a noble rider on horseback, accompanied by a secondary figure at the horse’s flank, all rendered in richly glazed green terracotta set against a luminous gold mosaic ground that enhances depth and visual contrast. The craftsmanship is notable for its sculptural quality, expressive detailing, and vibrant glaze, characteristic of Signa’s celebrated production in the late 19th to early 20th century. The reverse shows mounting provisions and impressed marks consistent with the workshop.
