Antique Standard Model A disc talking machine by the Standard Talking Machine Co. of Chicago, housed in an oak case with original decorative front decal and exterior hand crank. This early phonograph features a striking red metal morning glory horn with gilt ribbing and scalloped rim, mounted to a black and nickel-tone reproducer arm assembly. The turntable is shown with a Standard Disc Record, and the metal collar bears a patent date of Aug. 13, 1900. The piece displays an appealing period presentation with warm oak grain, ornate case trim, and strong visual presence. Condition shows age-appropriate wear throughout, including scratches, paint loss and scuffing to the horn, oxidation and surface wear to the metal components, finish wear to the wood case, and wear to the record. A desirable early 20th-century talking machine with decorative horn, suitable for collectors of phonographs, music machines, advertising, and early audio antiques. Approx. dimensions (in): 22.5 x 16.5 x 17.25.
