A striking Wedgwood black jasperware lidded urn, showcasing the timeless neoclassical style for which the maker is renowned. The matte black ground is beautifully contrasted with crisp white relief decoration depicting a continuous band of classical female figures in flowing drapery, posed in graceful dancing movements reminiscent of ancient Greek motifs. The urn is further enhanced with elegant vertical striping to the neck, lid, and lower body, all raised on a square plinth base adorned with applied classical ornament. The underside is clearly marked “WEDGWOOD” and “MADE IN ENGLAND." The piece includes its original domed lid with acorn-form finial and appears to be designed as a decorative urn or possibly a lamp base, with a central opening and fitting visible to the interior. A fine example of Wedgwood craftsmanship, this urn displays very well and would make a sophisticated addition to any collection of English ceramics or neoclassical décor. Approx. dimensions (in): 9.75 x 4.25 x 4.25.
