- Lot Description
This is an original circa 1890’s Navajo Ganado Hubbell Trading Post sampler rug from the ex-Bruce VanLandingham Sundog museum and gallery collection. The rug shows four Shiprock stepped pattern, one in each corner and is comprised of handspun natural wool with natural dyes and Germantown red. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Identification#: E1116. The condition of this Navajo rug is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this 24 1/4" x 20 1/4".
