- Lot Description
The lot features a circa 1960-1980's Crocket-Renalde aluminum horse bit with some leather. Oscar Crockett died in circa 1949 and his wife, Hazel Crockett, continued to operate the company until 1951 when she sold the business to James Renalde. The company continued to use the CROCKETT brand until in the 1960's they began stamping pieces CROCKETT-RENALDE. Later the business was closed and liquidated in the 1980's. The bit has a large shiny silver coloring, aluminum in manufacture, stamped RENALDE on the inside of both sides. There are two domed aluminum spots on the cheeks, leather on the brow and a single rein with seven silver adornments. Bit itself measures approx. 11.5-inches long by 6.25-inches wide by 3 5/8-inches tall.
