For auction in this lot is a Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine, chambered in .30 Winchester Center Fire (.30-30 WCF). The John Browning designed Winchester 94 repeating carbine was popular far and wide, from Klondike gold seekers, Texas Rangers, cowboys, ranchers, big game hunters, and Mexican Revolutionaries alike. The famous design of this 103 year old firearm stands the test of time, retaining a tight action, lock-up, and strong springs. The carbine utilizes a walnut butt-stock and fore-grip, showing a steel crescent butt-plate, 20" round barrel with full tube magazine, original Winchester blade front sight, and a folding leaf "Express" rear barrel sight. The carbine is marked in numerous spots, including: "Model 1894 -Winchester- Trade Mark" on the upper tang, Serial Number: "763678" on the bottom of the receiver, in front of the action, "-Nickel Steel Barrel- Especially for smokeless powder - 30W.C.F." on the left side of the barrel, and "Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms CO. - New Haven, CONN. U.S.A Patented August 21. 1894" on top of the barrel, in front of the rear sight. This iconic rifle originates from the turbulent days of the Frontier, and was manufactured in 1915. Overall, the carbine shows good condition, retaining good blueing on the barrel, and receiver, while the walnut parts show typical handling marks free of cracking, and displaying tight metal to wood contact. The bore is in good condition for age, showing some darkness. Manufactured in 1915, the carbine qualifies as a Curio & Relic Long Gun, and REQUIRES FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
