Chippendale Carved Mahogany Dish-Top Tea Table
Philadelphia, 1760-1780.
Key is missing
Provenance: John S. Walton, Inc., New York
28 1/4 x 31 3/4 in. (71.8 x 80.6 cm.)Condition
Scratches, stains, and imperfections to top consistent with age and use. Some water marks on outer edge of top. Small crack and repair to portion of lip/molded edge of top. Lacks key. Donut possibly replaced underside of top board on birdcage fitted with a guiding block to tighten the fit with top of standard. Crack, patch, and repair to one ankle. Shrinkage cracks through another carved foot and on standard. Cracked foot formerly fitted with fastening devices on the underside to tighten crack. Typical bruising and wear to base consistent with age and use. Otherwise, good condition.
