Federal Inlaid Mahogany Bowfront Chest of Drawers
New England, 1800-1820.
Provenance: Northeast Auctions, Portsmouth, NH.
36 3/4 x 41 x 21 1/4 in. (93.3 x 104.1 x 54 cm.)Condition
Surface clean, warm brown color. Some staining to front right corner quadrant of top, some light surface scratches and some shrinkage cracks at both back corners of top. Top 3” of backboard replaced. Minor losses/repairs to inlaid banding on edge of top. Front of top drawer probably broke out at one time and has repairs as a result. Drawer runners replaced. Drawer pulls replaced. Some patches to cockbeading and veneer on drawer fronts. Some shrinkage cracks and patches to case sides at cracks and along base molding. Breaks and repairs to feet, lacking some glue blocks.
