18th C. Attributed to William Henry Stiegel, Manheim, PA. Back panel enamel decoration depicts boy and girl embracing with the date "anno 1771", with German inscription which translates to "I would sooner kill myself than separate my heart from yours". Included with the lot is the original display card from the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
