Tamar Penn
Burlington County, New Jersey, 1787-1869
Schrenschnitte Valentine
Cut Paper
Burlington, New Jersey, dated 1809, inscribed Tamar Penn.
The only Tamar Penn in the US genealogical record was born in 1787 in Goshen Saw Mill Burlington County, NJ. Her grandparents were James Penn ( 1729-1814) and Elizabeth Alloway from West Plain , Burlington County NJ. Her parent were Thomas Penn (7 /25/17 51-12/12/1831) and Ruth Tamar Norcross (1756-1/28/1837) and she was the first of three children. Tamar married Joseph Peacock (1784-1855) on 12/27/1811 in Gloucester County and had no recorded children. Tamar died 1869, aged 82. Perhaps these peoples silhouetted in the Scherenschnitte are her parents because the people appear to be middle aged as they are wearing clothes of an earlier generation. Her father would be 58 years old and her mother 53 years old in 1809.
