The John Brown Blue-Painted Fan-Back Windsor Side Chair
John Letchworth (Philadelphia, 1759-1843), stamped on underside of seat "J. Letchworth", late 18th C.
Together with the John Brown Federal mahogany side table with candle slides, probably Rhode Island, c. 1800.
Provenance: John Brown (1736-1803), Providence, Rhode Island;
To his daughter, Sarah Brown Herreshoff (1773-1846);
To her son Charles Frederick Herreshoff (1809-1888);
Thus by descent in the Herreshoff Family line.
