The John Brown Group of Chinese Export Armorial Reticulated Baskets
18th/19th C. With Brown Family Monograms, "JB" for John Brown. Comprising, four baskets and three underplates in two sizes.
Chips, repairs, losses. surface distress.
Provenance: John Brown (1736-1803), Providence, Rhode Island;
To his daughter, Sarah Brown Herreshoff (1773-1846);
To her son Charles Frederick Herreshoff (1809-1888);
Thus by descent in the Herreshoff Family line.
