Attributed to José Manuel Díaz Medina b. 1949 oil on canvas signed, dated 1974 framed 85cm x 65cm 33.46in x 25.59 in Catalogue Note Jose Manuel Diaz Medina (b. 1949) is a chromatic lyricist. Diaz began painting from early childhood, proceeding to graduate from the School of Plastic Arts of the University of Guadalajara. He pioneered the term and technique of chromatic lyricism, marked by a painting technique that is still deeply Mexican. La Changa Díaz is a feminine portrait, with a distinctive obscurity, and inherent contradiction in its psychedelia. Mixing turquoise and bright yellow he paints exuberance, skulls, and enigmatic expressions in oil. It is in his naive sensuality and simplicity of line, that he carries the Mexican tradition, with all its pride and value, to modernity. This is a unique piece for the collector desiring the hedonism of the Riviera Maya’s waters yet demanding the depth of rebirth after death.
