- Lot Description
15th or 16th century fresco oil on canvas depicting The Christ Child with Mary above three saints, likely Sebastian, Roch, and Catherine. 64 1/2" x 97 1/2" canvas, 75" x 109" framed. Provenance: The Hearst Collection plaque, identifies the piece and dates it to 1450.Losses, repairs, mineral deposits, canvas was re-backed and molded with resin or fiberglass, a frame was built around it, likely to maintain the form it held while part of an altar.
