Large Scrimshaw and Polychrome Two-Sided Whale Tooth of the "Ship Alrion", First Half of the 19th Century, two-sided engraving depicting a full portrait of a lady with polychrome shawl and veil; the verso engraved with the 1798 Whale Ship Alrion in a rogue wave. The Alrion was a full-rigged whaler built at Deptford, England and launched in 1798, she made five whaling voyages to the seas around New South Wales and New Zealand
