Paul McCarthy (1943-2023) Hand Carved Double Sided Trade Sign "The Nantucket Sleigh Ride", 20th Century, formerly of Nantucket Sleigh Ride, India Street, Nantucket. Paul McCarthy specialized in eagles, signs, quarterboards, and architectural carving. He opened his first shop in Scituate, MA, in 1969 and worked for many years from a shop near the rotary on Nantucket Island. His most iconic work is "Going on the Whale" that decorates the front of the Nantucket Whaling Museum on Broad Street.
