ABBEY, Edward (1927?1989).?Desert Solitaire.?New York: McGraw?Hill, [1968]. 8vo. Numerous illustrations after drawings by Peter Parnall. Original brown cloth, spine lettered in white and dark brown (some rubbing to binding, previous owner?s inscription on ffep); original dust jacket (a bit toned, some edgewear and mild chipping, a few short tears). FIRST EDITION. This is one of Abbey?s most famous works, an autobiographical account of being a park ranger at Arches National Park; it is a landmark of modern environmental writing.
