[ALI, Muhammad] Liston vs. Clay. 20th Century Fox, 1964. One-sheet (41 3/8 x 27?). Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Clay), at the time of this match known by his nickname ?The Louisville Lip,? brashly claimed he would knock out the reigning heavyweight champion, Sonny Liston, by the eighth round. Although Liston was the odds-on favorite, Clay forced Liston to drop out in the seventh round. This poster advertises the film of the fight released for exhibition in theaters. Signed by Ali centrally in blue Sharpie. Touched-up along folds. Linen backed. A-. This poster comes from the estate of Jay B. Ross, a prominent Chicago entertainment attorney who represented many legendary musicians including Muddy Waters, James Brown, and Willie Dixon.
