AMES, Joseph; HERBERT William; and DIBDIN, Thomas Frognall. Typographical Antiquities; or the History of Printing in England, Scotland, and Ireland? London: William Miller, 1810/19. 4 vols. Royal 4to (379 x 275 mm). Titles in red and black. LARGE PAPER COPY, one of 65 copies. 38 plates (extra plates as issued) including portraits, facsimiles, etc. Original half parchment with marbled boards and morocco labels as issued with the large paper copies, leaves uncut (front hinge broken with spine cleanly detached in Vol. 1 (first few quires starting or sprung), occasional dampstaining to Vol. I and II, Vol. II joints starting; other two volumes mostly clean and tight). Windle and Pippin A15. RARE. Provenance: From the private library of a local Chicago collector, part one.
