[ANTI-SOVIET PROPAGANDA]. ?Vinnitsia" (in Russian). [Germany, ca. 1940s]. Lithograph poster of a harrowing image of the Vinnitsia massacre victims being mourned by women, above them a Jewish-looking thug with a gun. 46 ? x 32". Folded, verso reinforced with tape at margins and creases, several creases torn, chipped, some wear, marginal tears or chips, internal creasing, soiling. C/C-. This Anti-Soviet poster shows the aftermath of the horrific massacre of Ukrainian citizens in Vinnitsia, between 1937-1938, discovered by the Nazis after their invasion in 1943. It is estimated that the Soviet secret police murdered between 9,000 to 11,000 Ukrainians. The thuggish policeman on the poster was given stereotypical Jewish features to vilify the Soviets further (equating Bolshevism with Judaism).
