Antique English Victorian Writing Case. Crown patent marked by J. Bramah. Late 19th Century. Wood leather and brass. Box closed. 6 3/4 h x 17 3/4 w x 10" d. Open 5 h x 17 3/4 w x 20 1/2" d. This box is crafted from fine woods with elegant brass inlay and leather interior insert. There is a secret compartment activated with a pulled pin metal finial to open the compartment on the right side when using the desk to write. There are no keys with the object.
Marks, scratches and scuffs overall. When case is opened bottom section of angled leather writing section fits, but when closing the latches that hold the section no longer hold the surface down. Split in wood at top upper right section. Case does close and reopen but is not locked. One ribbon to hold envelopes is missing.

Property will not be released to the shipper without the buyer's written consent and until payment has been made in full. Packing and handling by us of purchased lots is at the entire risk of the purchaser, and Potter and Potter Auctions, Inc. will have no liability of any loss or damage to such items. Packing and shipping expenses shall be added to buyer's invoice and will reflect a charge for labor, materials, insurance, transportation, as well as actual shipper fees.
