[ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN]. SHAW, Henry (1800?1873). The Decorative Arts Ecclesiastical and Civil of the Middle Ages. London: William Pickering, 1851. Folio (368 x 267 mm). 41 lithographic plates, 29 chromolithographic, many heightened with gold, numerous in?text engravings (occasional spotting near margins). Half contemporary calf over marbled boards, rebacked with new spine label gilt, all edges gilt. LARGE PAPER COPY with six more plate in color than the standard quarto. ?? [Together with:] WINSTON, Charles. An Inquiry into the Difference of Style Observable in Ancient Glass Painting? Oxford: John Henry Parker, 1847. 2 volumes, 8vo. 75 plates (most in color). Original decorative red cloth gilt, top edges gilt. Provenance: James Edmund Scripps, 1835?1906.
