[ART]. [CANOVA, Antonio (1757-1822), subject]. CICOGNARA, Count Leopoldo (1767-1834). The Works of Antonio Canova... London: Henry G. Bohn, 1849. Large 8vos. Profusely illustrated with frontispiece in volume I and nearly 150 outline engraved plates by Henry Moses after Canova. 3 volumes. Contemporary half red morocco over red cloth boards, spines ruled, tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, top edges gilt. PRESUMED FIRST EDITION THUS.
Condition
Spines toned, bindings worn, scuffed, and soiled, text and plates a bit toned with occasional thumbsoiling and foxing. Good.

Canova was one of the most important neo-classical sculptors of his time. This title reflects his oeuvre.
