Beautifully bound by Zaehnsdorf in early twentieth century full dark brown levant morocco, boards ruled and paneled in gilt, spine ruled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves, top edge gilt (spine a bit sunned with some light spots, faint scratches to boards, text leaves a bit toned, with some minor occasional edgewear). Fine. FIRST EDITION. With the armorial bookplate of Louis Edward Raphael, art collector and patron (his wife posed for a portrait for John Singer Sargent in 1906) on the fp, and the bookplate of Barbara S. Marko on the ffep.
