Featuring the collection of lifelong circus collector John Diesso, this auction includes heralds, couriers, and posters advertising the "greatest shows" of yesteryear. Photographs, route books, scrapbooks, and circus costumes will be also be offered, spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. • Lot Description

  Barnum & Bailey. Group of six programs, 1903 - 18. Six official dime and fifteen cent programs, including 1903, 1905, 1906, 1908, 1910, and 1918. Original staple-bound wrappers by the Courier Co., Buffalo, and one by Lipshitz Press, New York. Small 4tos. Illustrated. 

  Some of Barnum's best-known acts are featured (and pictured) in these pages, including Lionel, the Lion-Faced Boy; Frank and Annie Howard (tattooed couple); Krao, the Missing Link; James Morris, the Elastic-Skinned Man; Eli Bowen; Charles Tripp; as well as equestrians, aerialists, wild animals, and other marvels.

  Condition

  Some with small tape repairs to spines; curled or creased corners; spotting; dates inked or penciled on lower rear covers. Overall, a nice group.
