- Lot Description
[BASEBALL]. [ORIGINAL ARTWORK]. Group of Two Original Newspaper Drawings of Legendary Player Rogers Hornsby. [Chicago: May 25, 1928]. Pen and ink drawings on illustration board by an unknown artist. Drawings approximately 6 ? x 3 ??. Typical wear, soiling, one drawing with a small area of white correction ink. Excellent. One drawing depicts Hornsby in a New York Giants uniform and is captioned ?Traded to the New York Giants?; the other drawing shows Hornsby in a Boston Braves uniform and is captioned ?Traded to Boston in Surprising Deal?. Both are dated ?1927? (based on editor?s notes, these drawings appeared in the May 25, 1928 issue of one of the major Chicago newspapers, most likely the Tribune.
