[BASEBALL]. Original UPI Press Photograph/Proof of Chicago White Sox Pitcher Joe Horlen After Pitching a No-Hitter, PSA Type I Authentic. Detroit - WSOX - Chicago: UPI, September 10, 1967. Black and white press photo with typed caption affixed to top edge (7 x 9?), depicting a happy Joe Horlen being congratulated by teammates and a uniformed man after pitching a no-hitter (the White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 6 - 0). On the verso are pencil notes ?full hit [?] 510 PM 9/10/67? as well as the UPI inkstamp. Minor creasing to upper left corner, some faint soiling on verso, editor?s ink markings on typed caption. Superb; a one-of-a-kind photo. Joel Edward Horlen was a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics; he was an All-Star and AL ERA leader in 1967 (the same year as this photo), a World Series champion (1972). This rare photo depicts his victory after his only no-hitter. One-of-a-kind, as per PSA. Encapsulated by PSA, Type I Authentic. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
