[BASEBALL]. Original UPI Proof Photo of New York Mets Pitcher Tom Seaver in Warm-Up Jacket and Uniform, PSA Type I Authentic. UPI, September 21, 1974. Black and white proof photo (10 x 8?) with typed caption affixed to right margin. With UPI inkstamp on verso, editorial notes to caption. Photo toned, rubbed, several creases, some soiling, verso toned. Very good and one-of-a-kind. ?PITTSBURGH, PA: Mets? pitching ace Tom Seaver looks in vain from the bullpen as his teammates fail to hold off a ninth inning rally by the Pirates who won 4-3 here 9/20. A nerve in his left hip will keep Seaver out of the starting rotation, and he may not pitch for the remainder of the year.? George Thomas Seaver, nicknamed ?Tom Terrific? and ?The Franchise? was a MLB pitcher who played for several teams, including the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, and the Boston Red Sox. A Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, he was a 12-time All-Star, World Series champion, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, NL wins leader (three times), NL strikeout leader (five times), and more.
