Two volume set, first edition of Rode?s translation, later cloth spine over original marbled boards. 4to. xxiv, 284, xxiv; viii, 307, 47, [xvi]. Two engraved title vignettes, woodcut illustrations. Boards rubbed, signature cut and replaced with contemporary laid paper on vol. I title; only affecting margin, bookplate. First edition in German since the 1548 edition by Ryff. August Rode (1751-1837) compiled this edition while at Dessau and Worlitz where he served as secretary and later minister to Duke Leopols Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Desseau, creator of the earliest neoclassical garden sites in Germany.
