Bird Box. Circa 1890. Finely crafted hardwood box with brass inlaid design in lid. A playing card or calling card is placed into the box and the lid is shut. When later opened, the card has transformed into a live bird. Hardwood construction, 4 ? x 3 x 4 ?. With key. Interior paper cover and mechanism worn.
