Black, Jack. You Can?t Win. New York: Macmillan, 1926. First edition, first printing. Red cloth, spine lettered in gilt. 8vo. 394pp. First issue dust-jacket, front flap corners clipped. Piece torn from lower right corner of jacket, chipping and tears elsewhere, mended tear at head of spine. Moderate spotting and foxing at start, lightly throughout. Scarce. Autobiography of a professional burglar and librarian of the San Francisco Call. The work influenced Beat writers including William S. Burroughs.
