[BOXING]. [KILLION, John Joseph (?Jake Kilrain?) (1859-1937)]. Commemorative silk. Circa 1888. 32 x 35?; 813 x 889 mm. Black-and-white image of the boxer at center, surrounded by a colorful border, old folds, few small holes. Killion (more commonly known as Kilrain) was the ?Champion Pugilist of America, Holder of the Police Gazette ?Diamond Belt??. The Hall of Fame boxer is best remembered today for his brutal seventy-five round battle with the great John L. Sullivan in July of 1889.
