BRYANT, William Cullen (1794-1878). Autograph Fair Copy of the Final Lines of His Most Famous Poem, "Thanatopsis." [N.p., n.d.] Signed by Bryant at the bottom. On plain white paper. Approximately 8 x 5".
Condition
2 horizontal creases, left margin trimmed very slightly unevenly. Fine. "So live that when thy summons comes to join The innumerable caravan which moved To that mysterious realm where each shall take His chamber in the Silent halls of Death..." Thanatopsis was written between 1811 and ca. 1821, and remains a milestone in the history of American literature.
