CARLSON, George (1887-1962). Group of 8 Panels of Pen, Pencil and Ink Original Artwork for a Puzzle/Activity Book (or Books) for Children. [N.p., ca. mid-20th century]. Cardstock panels, none signed by Carlson. All approximately 22 x 14”.
Generally toned, mildly edgeworn, some with paperclip marks or editorial markings. Very good. Carlson was a prolific cartoonist and illustrator, illustrating comics (Jingle Jangle Comics, and more), activity books (this group may be from several different puzzle/activity books), and, perhaps most famously, he designed the original dust jacket for Gone with the Wind (1926). “…an under-appreciated, largely overlooked cartoonist, illustrator, game designer, and graphic artist extraordinaire" (Paul Tumey, Perfect Nonsense… 2013).
