A LARGE GROUP OF NEARLY 66 COPIES OF THE FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST BOOK PUBLISHED ON FILM MAKE-UP BY ONE OF THE FIRST FILM MAKE-UP ARTISTS. With Preface by Lon Chaney, Sr.
Condition
Copies generally worn, soiled, toned, most with yellow stamping on front covers tarnished, some with gutters starting, a few copies with boards curved. One copy bound without biography of Holland and the Preface by Lon Chaney, Sr. Generally very good.

This rare title is the foundational text for actors and other make-up artists for creating make-up effects for film, with numerous pictured examples of completed make-ups (Jesus Christ, Old Sailor, Pirate, Fisherman, Witch, Shiek, "Chinaman," and more) as well as techniques such as painting wrinkles, adding facial hair, "negro" make-up, etc. With an illustration of Chaney as "Mr. Wu." An excellent lot for dealers and booksellers.
