His Brilliant Career as Soldier, Author, and Journalist? Also a Reprint of Shelby's Expedition to Mexico? Kansas City, MO: Jennie Edwards, Publisher, 1889. Large 8vo. Frontispiece. 428, [8, blank] pp. Publisher's full greenish-blue cloth, printed paper label on spine (spine toned and worn, boards worn, soiled, most text pages unopened at upper edge, text a bit toned). Very good. FIRST EDITION, #66/100 COPIES SIGNED BY THE COMPILER, JENNIE EDWARDS (this memoir was published after John N. Edwards' death). Rare. Edwards was a Confederate officer and journalist, who was a member of Shelby's Iron Brigade. As a journalist, he contributed to the folk hero status of outlaw Jesse James. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy. Measurements: 11 x 9 x 1".
