Zanesville, OH: Published by Hugh Dunne, 1866. 8vo. 522, [1, ad], [3, blank] pp. Publisher's full dark blue pebbled cloth, boards elaborately stamped in blind, front board and spine stamped in gilt, light brown endleaves in front, light green endleaves at rear (spine sunned to green, some rubbing, light soiling to boards, faint pencil notations and a signature on the ffep., rfep. affixed to final blank, offsetting to text). Near fine. THE RARE FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY PEPPER ON THE FP.: ?Editor ?Mansfield Herald' with the regards of the Author / Wellington Lorain Co Ohio [?] 10 18/1/1". ?? one of the best narratives by a Union soldier?"
