[CIVIL WAR]. RODENBOUGH, Brevet Brigadier-General Theo. F. (1838-1912). From Everglade to Ca?on with the Second Dragoons, (Second United States Cavalry) ? New York: D. Van Nostrand, Publisher, 1875. Thick 8vo. Illustrated with chromolithographs and folding maps. 561, [1, blank], [4, ads], [2, blank] pp. Publisher's full red cloth over beveled boards, boards stamped in blind, front board and spine stamped in gilt (rebacked and recased, preserving the original spine, later brown coated endleaves, text toned and occasionally foxed and thumbsoiled). Very good. FIRST EDITION OF THIS IMPORTANT HISTORY OF THE SECOND U. S. CAVALRY. The author was an officer of the 2nd Dragoons, who took part in Manassas, Winchester (he lost his right arm in this battle), Gettysburg and Cold Harbor, eventually becoming a Brigadier-General. Housed in custom-made full light brown morocco clamshell case with two burgundy gilt morocco lettering labels on spine. Howes R395. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy.
