Civil War: Three Soldier Tintypes. The cased image of the sitting Corporal measures 2" x 2 1/2" (sight). The 2nd cased image of the standing soldier measures 2" x 2 1/2" (sight). The last image, which is identified as John L. Hadley on the verso of the plate, measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/4" (sight). Hadley served with the 5th New Hampshire infantry, mustering in on 9/28/61, deserting on 11/29/63, and WIA at Fair Oaks on 6/1/62. The 5th saw action at Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and several other battles.
As a bonus a US belt buckle is included in the lot.
The standing image has bubbling to the surface. The other images are excellent with one having hand tinting.

Property will not be released to the shipper without the buyer's written consent and until payment has been made in full. Packing and handling by us of purchased lots is at the entire risk of the purchaser, and Potter and Potter Auctions, Inc. will have no liability of any loss or damage to such items. Packing and shipping expenses shall be added to buyer's invoice and will reflect a charge for labor, materials, insurance, transportation, as well as actual shipper fees.
