CRAWFURD, John (1783?1868). Journal of an Embassy from the Governor?General of India to the Court of Ava in the Year 1827? with an Appendix Containing a Description of Fossil Remains by Professor Buckland and Mr. Clift. London: Henry Colburn, 1829. 4to (268 x 210 mm). 10 lithographs and aquatints (3 colored including frontispiece), numerous woodcut vignettes in text, large folding map (stub reinforced, old repairs along folds verso). (Mild spotting or browning to plates, some offsetting to text from plates, lacking half?title). Full modern polished niger antique preserving original red morocco lettering?piece gilt, raised bands gilt, compartments elaborately tooled in gilt, renewed endpapers. FIRST EDITION, of a rare description and narrative of the Kingdom of Burma by the British Envoy Crawfurd. Abbey, Travel 405.
