DICKENS, Charles (1812?1870). Bleak House. London: Bradbury and Evans, 1853. One work in 2 volumes, 8vo. Half?title, engraved additional title?page, engraved frontispiece, 38 illustrations by J.K. Browne (?Phiz?), with the 10 ?dark? plates (marginal browning). Contemporary half olive leather, marbled sides, spines gilt (boards rubbed, spine panel split at front joint and partially detached in Volume I, front cover also detached). Provenance: Arthur F. Chance (bookplate). FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM published on 12 September 1853. Eckel, pp. 64?66; Gimbel A154; Smith I:10.
