Once considered mere "fabrics of yesteryear," these fleeting images have been recently reclaimed by the collecting community, and appreciated for their candid, historical, and visual depth. But all genres of photographs will be represented, with featured lots to include space and NASA material, sideshow cabinet cards, fine art photos, and vernacular works of all types. Electrostatic “Static Machine” Demonstration Scrapbook Page. Circa 1930s–1940s. Original scrapbook page featuring two mounted photographs documenting an electrostatic apparatus identified in manuscript as “The Static Machine.” The left image shows a formally dressed man posed beside the device, a large disc-based electrostatic generator mounted on a table with associated components and wiring; the right image captures the machine in operation, producing branching electrical discharge patterns recorded photographically. The page is annotated in pencil with references to “Electrostatics” and “The Machine in Operation with Short Time,” along with a partial address in Delray Beach, Florida, suggesting educational or demonstrative use. Overall page measures approximately 9 x 6".
Condition
Minor edge wear, light surface soiling, and typical aging to mounts; photographs remain clear and well-preserved.
