About Auction

This is an auction replete with standouts. Works by Magritte, Tamayo, Paschke, Wirsum and multiple mixed media collages and prints from the celebrated Tony Fitzpatrick will cross the block. A significant work by Bill Traylor leads the Outsider Art session, alongside major works by Finster, Yoakum, Dial, Sparrow, and Dawson. Folk art includes a carved grotto Jesus and Devil train set sculpture from Wisconsin, and three oversize leaves by Ivan Albright lead the fine art session. [EPHEMERA] FINSTER, Howard (American, 1916-2005). Large group of over 200 pages/items of ephemera in various media. Circa 1985. Printed matter, postcards, photographs, transparencies, correspondence, faxes, magazine pages, catalogs, pamphlets, invoices and more in a portable file folder with Howard Finster's name. Some multiples.
Condition
Typical wear for individual pages / items. Various folds, marks, bends etc. Overall good condition.
- Provenance
This lot comes from a selection of items from the Spirit of America, Inc. This venture was owned by Peter F. Paul who also managed Fabio the actor/model. Paul brought an exhibition of Finster's to Beverly Hills and this lot is related to his involvement with Finster and are source materials from Paul's files.
