[EROTICA]. GUCCIONE, [Bob (1930-2010), publisher and contributor]. Penthouse. The Magazine for Men. Vol. 1 No. 1. London: Penthouse Publications, March, 1965. 4to. Profusely illustrated. 74 pp. Publisher's staple-bound color wrappers.
Minor rubbing, a few small tears and some wear at staples, a few very light interior creases to wrappers, very faint creasing to corners. Bright and fine. FIRST EDITION OF THE RARE FIRST ISSUE OF PENTHOUSE MAGAZINE. The first few years of Penthouse Magazine were issued in solely in England, with the American issues debuting in September, 1969. Guccione's gamble with this magazine paid off handsomely, becoming the best-selling magazine of its kind in Europe - even outselling Playboy at the time to American troops in Vietnam (this inspired Guccione to publish an American version).
