[FINE BINDINGS]. BROWN, Horatio F. (1854-1926). John Addington Symonds a Biography Compiled from His Papers and Correspondence. London: John C. Nimmo, 1895. 8vos. Illustrated. 2 volumes bound in 4. Beautifully bound in early 20th century three-quarter brown levant morocco over cloth boards, spines decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, brown cloth endleaves, top edges gilt (minor rubbing). Fine. FIRST EDITION OF THIS BIOGRAPHY OF BROWN?S FRIEND, POET AND LITERARY CRITIC, SYMONDS. Brown suppressed any mention of Symonds? homosexuality in this biography.
