Extra-illustrated with numerous marginal original watercolor drawings, and frontispieces in two states (one hand-colored). 4 volumes. Beautifully bound by The Harcourt Bindery in contemporary full red levant morocco, boards double-ruled and paneled in gilt with gilt floral cornerpieces, spines ruled, tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments with multi-colored floral onlays, four raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves, top edge gilt, others uncut (spines somewhat toned, some wear and faint chipping to joints, some occasional minor soiling to boards, front hinge of volume I starting, light wear to corners). Near fine. ONE OF SIX COPIES PRINTED ON JAPANESE VELLUM OUT OF A TOTAL EDITION OF 483, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH WATERCOLOR DRAWINGS IN THE FIRST 3 VOLUMES; ?one of which is assigned to the Library of the British Museum; one to the Library of Congress; one is presented to Doctor Richard Garnett; one is retained by the society, and two will be sold by auction.?
